Libertarian solution to preserving the environment

When I read the Libertarian Party's solution for preserving the environment, I thought it was so bizarre: privatize it because owners will have incentive to preserve it! Only the gullible will miss that its preservation is precisely the point of nature reserves and the like not being owned. I suspect that this whole preservation idea comes from Murray Rothbard's emphasis on land not "really" being owned if hasn't been homesteaded according to the Lockean proviso, which is, of course, quite stupid in this case.
